Opto-Mechanical Engineer

Job Description:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or foreign equivalent degree.
  • Post secondary courses in the following subjects:
    • Solid Mechanics
    • Dynamics
    • Fluid Mechanics
    • Thermo Dynamics
    • Mechanical Vibration
    • Computer Aided Engineering
    • Precision Instrumentation Engineering
    • Precision Machining

Responsibilities:

Apply principles of physics and engineering to assist with designing of materials for optical systems with specific characteristics to fit within specified physical limits of precision optical instruments. Utilize engineering and design knowledge to design and carry out tests and experiments to determine specifications for operations and necessary adjustments to calibrate and obtain specified operational performance. Assist in designing inspection instruments to test optical systems for defects. Utilize engineering and programming skills to operate Computed Numerically Controlled machines. Perform mechanical design/analysis for standard and custom EO/IR/UV and visible opto-mechanical products. Evaluate newest technologies, suggest design and develop improved as well as new opto-mechanical products for our customer market needs.
